We had to go and make photos for our Gcs today. Since I was feeling (and looking) unbelievably shitty, which, unfortunately, has became a habit recently, I applied a bit of make-up to my face, which I didn't do in 4 years.

What a revelation. I completely forgot how much a small amount of make-up can change my face. It felt like I got a tiny bit of former me - young and carefree - back. I went to a store and bought myself everything new from the ground up, since whatever I brought with me from Kiev is, of course, totally spoiled now. It cost me $70 (50% sale, duh) but so fucking what? I feel better...

How much you can forget in just 4 years...

what you are doing is called "retail therapy"
same for me. it's kinda good for the soul, but sucks for the budget.
The thing for me is not so much buying, but spending time looking, and there is no better reward than actually finding something cute on some zillion percent off sale.

Um, not exactly. I just bought everything quickly, since we were therу with our son, who is a natural disaster in stores. I think I'll try it your way too this week. :) I really am totally stressed out, and gladly do anything that has a chance of helping.

might help. it's not just browsing, it's also taking time off of your usual routine, no external distractors other than stuff in a store. It's time to yourself. see if it works--it helps me by being 'my time for myself'
