Татьянин день, Татьянин день...

Люди, вы обалдели? Сегодня день рождения Высоцкого, а никто не вспоминает.

Стыдобища.

I know. I know. Russian is almost completey not compatible with English.

Especially with poetry and literature. But even with scientific papers. I had fits passing my Russian language reading exam on a graduate level. Russian is a totally different mind set from English. I still cannot believe I passed. Neecheyo.

I will look up Brodsky and Vysotsky, though I would like to know where to look for decent translations. The translation I gave you from Yevtushenko was completely from memory. I looked up the translation online and it simply sucked.

a*blinks* do you think you and I could like chat on AIM or ICQ or such?

I posted a request on one of LJ-communities. Hopefully, the collective mind will be able to suggest something that has both Russian texts and English translations. By the way, have you ever visited [livejournal.com profile] learn_russian? It's a good community.

I don't have AIM (friends don't let friends use AOL, as one of my coworkers would say :)), but i do have ICQ. 74976179. I'm warning you, though, I'm almost always listed as online, but it might not be so.

Dear Diane, yuo must listen to Vysotsky's songs not only read him. He was a poet who sings his poems. His voice and music have made his poems unique.
